More people provide unpaid care here than in most areas, reaching 14.7%. There is also a higher rate of former Defence Force members compared to most similar areas.

The First Nations community is notably young, with a typical age of 17. While incomes are about the same as the national figure, the unemployment rate of 20.0% is far above the New South Wales rate of 9.8%.

One-parent families are among the highest at this level, making up 24.8% of households, which is far above the national figure of 14.1%.

Housing is dominated by separate houses, making up 98.3% of dwellings. Most homes are large, with 81.9% having three or more bedrooms, though the typical monthly mortgage payment is far below the state average.
