Long-term health conditions are more common here than in most areas, affecting 35.9% of residents. This is well above the national average, with arthritis being the most reported condition.

Volunteering is common, with 19.3% of people volunteering—well above the national figure. The area also has a much higher rate of former Defence Force members than most similar places.

Nearly half of all households consist of couples without children. While the typical number of people per home is 2.3, about a quarter of residents live alone.

Housing is dominated by large homes, with 89.4% having three or more bedrooms and 97% being separate houses. A huge 52.3% of homes are owned outright, which is far above the national average.
