The area is noticeably younger than most, with 21.8% of people under 15 and a typical age of 34. About 8% of residents are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, a figure that rose 4.1 percentage points since 2011 and is well above the national average.

Cars are the primary way to get to work, though 16.1% of people now work from home, a significant rise since 2011. The area is quite remote from the city, with a typical drive time of 97 minutes.

The community is quite mobile, with 46.4% of people moving house in the last five years. Recent arrivals from overseas also make up a higher share of the population than in many other areas.

More adults are working or looking for work here than in most areas, at 65.7%. The most common industries for local workers are health care and social assistance.

The area sits slightly below the national average for overall advantage. While access to money and resources is better than in 60% of similar areas, job skills and education levels are lower than in 70% of areas.
