The area is older than most, with the typical resident aged 44 and over 22% of the population aged 65 or more. While children under 15 make up 18.4% of the community, the proportion of people in de facto relationships is much lower than the national figure.

A significant 37.3% of residents were born overseas, a figure that has risen since 2011 and is well above the national average. English, Australian and Chinese are the most common ancestries reported.

Household incomes are among the highest in the country, with the typical family earning $3,501 a week. Nearly half of all households earn $3,000 or more weekly, a figure that has risen sharply since 2011.

General health is good, as the proportion of people with a long-term health condition is a little below the national figure. Mental health conditions are also much lower than in most other areas at 5.6%.

Volunteer rates are high at 21.1%, well above the national figure. There is also a strong presence of unpaid caregivers, with 29.4% of people caring for children, which is much higher than most areas.

Families are larger than usual, with 2.8 people per home. The area has a very low proportion of people living alone (18.6%) or one-parent families (8.3%) compared to other regions.

Housing is dominated by detached homes, and 42.5% are owned outright, which is far above the national average. However, the cost of entry is high, with typical weekly rents at $617 and monthly mortgage payments at $3,500.

A huge 55.7% of the workforce now works from home, a massive increase from 7.9% in 2011. While public transport stops are numerous, most residents rely on cars, with 41.3% of homes having two vehicles.

Movement into the area is steady, with 35.7% of people having moved in the last five years. This is slightly lower than the national figure, and the share of recent overseas arrivals has fallen since 2011.

The workforce is largely professional, with 41.4% in professional roles and many working in technical, health or education fields. Unemployment is low at 4.0%, which is a little below the national figure.

The area ranks at the very top of all measures for economy and advantage, scoring a maximum 10 for access to money, resources, and job skills.

Daily life is highly walkable, with 82.7% of homes within a 15-minute walk of essential amenities. Almost every resident lives within a short walk of a park and public transport.
