Volunteering is very common, with 28.8% of people helping out, far above the national figure of 14.1%. There is also a high rate of unpaid care and a strong presence of Defence Force veterans.

The First Nations community is smaller than in most similar areas, with 106 people. This group faces significant hardship, with an unemployment rate of 25.0%, which is far above the national figure.

A large proportion of the community lives alone (34.2%), which is well above the national average. Households are generally small, with only 2.2 people per home.
