Long-term health conditions are more common here than in most areas, affecting 35.7% of residents. Arthritis is the most reported condition at 14.0%.

Volunteerism is higher than the national average at 20.3%. This active community also sees a much higher rate of people doing 15 or more hours of unpaid housework per week compared to most areas.

Homes are typically small, with 2.1 people per dwelling. Most households are couples without children (56.4%), which is consistent with the area's older population.

The housing stock is overwhelmingly detached houses (96.8%), with 80% of homes having three or more bedrooms. Renting is far less common here than across Victoria, with only 16.2% of households renting.

The area is highly car-reliant, as 99.3% of homes own at least one motor vehicle. No one in the community commutes by public transport.

There has been significant movement into the area, with 45.5% of people moving house in the last five years. This is well above the national average.

The unemployment rate is very low at 1.4%, though the proportion of adults working or looking for work is far below the national figure. Many residents work in health care, social assistance, or accommodation and food services.

Metung is heavily car-dependent with a very low walkability score. Most residents live far from basic services, as only 19.3% of homes are within a 15-minute walk of groceries.
