The area is far older than most, with a typical resident aged 50. While the population shrank by 38% since 2011, the proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people rose to 12.9%, which is much higher than the state and national figures.

The community is predominantly Australian-born, with 87.1% born here. This is reflected in the very low percentage of people born overseas (4.0%), which is far below the national figure.

English is the only language used at home for 94.6% of residents. No one in the community reported using another language at home or speaking little to no English, far below the state and national averages.

About 60% of residents identify as Christian. Those with no religion make up 29.2% of the community, a figure that is much lower than the national average but has risen significantly since 2011.

Educational qualifications are much lower than in most areas; only 1.7% of adults have a bachelor degree or higher. Many residents finished school at Year 10 (34.1%) or lower, and only 24.9% completed Year 12.

Typical personal weekly incomes are a little below the national figure at $725. While typical family incomes rose by $865 since 2011, very few households earn $3,000 or more per week (3.4%), which is far below the state average.

Health challenges are more common here than in most areas, with 37.1% of people living with a long-term health condition. This is well above the national average, and 7.9% of residents need help with daily activities.

A high 15.7% of people provide unpaid care, which is well above the national figure. The area also has a notable number of former Defence Force members (8.0%), though volunteering rates are much lower than most areas.

Family sizes are smaller than usual, with 2.1 people per home. While couples with children make up 46.5% of households, there has been a shift toward people living alone, who now make up 31.5% of the population.

Most people live in separate houses (77.5%), and 39.3% own their home outright. However, the area has far fewer large homes than the state average, with only 58.4% of dwellings having three or more bedrooms.

Cars are essential for most, as 62.4% of workers drive to work and 0% use public transport. A small number of households (9.0%) have no motor vehicle, which is slightly above the national figure.

The community is relatively stable, as 32.7% of people moved in the last five years, which is well below the national average. There have been no recent arrivals from overseas.

More adults are working or looking for work (62.2%) compared to most areas, and the unemployment rate is very low at 2.8%. Common industries include construction, health care, and retail trade.

The area is mostly car-dependent, with a walkability score far below the state average. While most homes are near public transport, no one is within a 15-minute walk of a school, health service, or grocery store.
