Most residents were born in Australia, with only 6.3% born overseas, a figure far below the national average of 27.7%. Those with Australian, English, Irish, or Scottish ancestry make up the vast majority of the population.

Long-term health conditions are more common here than in most areas, with 34.0% of people reporting one. Mental health conditions are particularly high at 13.4%, well above the national figure of 8.8%.

Community spirit is strong, with 22.5% of people volunteering, a figure well above the national average. Additionally, 10.2% of residents have served in the Defence Force, which is far higher than in most other areas.

Homes tend to be larger, with 2.6 people per home. This is consistent with a high proportion of couples with children (60.7%) and a very low number of people living alone compared to the rest of the country.
