Volunteering is more common here than in the rest of the state, at 19.2%. There is also a higher proportion of former Defence Force members (3.5%) than in most similar areas.

First Nations residents face significant challenges, with an unemployment rate of 28.8%, which is far above the national figure. Typical personal income for this group is also much lower than in most areas.

Living arrangements are distinctive, as 39.6% of people live alone and 23.0% of families are one-parent households, both of which are among the highest rates for this level.

Most people live in separate houses, but renting is far more common here (38.6%) than in the rest of the state. Typical weekly rents are $290, which is well below the national figure.

The area is heavily reliant on cars, and 8.4% of homes have no motor vehicle, which is well above the state average. Very few people work from home compared to the rest of Australia.

The community is quite mobile, with 40.7% of residents moving in the last five years. This is slightly above the Western Australian average.

Fewer adults are working or looking for work (50.1%) than in most similar areas. The most common industries for those employed are health care, retail, and education.

The area is very walkable, with a score of 6.9. Almost all homes are within a 15-minute walk of health services, parks, and public transport.
