Volunteering is exceptionally high, with 54% of the population participating, far above the national figure. There is also a strong history of service, as 6.8% of residents served in the Defence Force.

There are three First Nations people in the community, with a typical age of 22, which is a little younger than the state and national figures. Personal and household incomes for First Nations residents are well below the national average.

Homes are smaller than usual, with 2.1 people per dwelling. Most households are couples, and there are no one-parent families in the area.
