Volunteer rates are much lower than most areas at 13.3%. About 12.8% of people provide unpaid care, which is slightly above the Queensland average.

The First Nations community is among the largest for its level, with a typical age of 19, which is noticeably younger than the national figure. However, First Nations unemployment is higher than most areas at 15.4%.

One-parent families are very common here at 26.3%, a rate far above the national figure of 14.1%. A higher than usual 30.6% of people live alone.

The area consists mostly of separate houses (89.1%) and has a high rental rate of 33.0%. Typical weekly rent is $258, which is well below the national figure of $375.

The community is heavily reliant on cars, with only 0.8% of people using public transport to get to work. Very few people work from home (3.2%), a rate far below the national figure.

Movement into the area is steady, with 35.4% of people moving in during the last five years. Recent overseas arrivals account for 13.6% of the population.

Full-time employment is slightly above the national figure at 60.3%. Many residents work in health care and social assistance, which accounts for 22.8% of jobs.

The area is mostly car-dependent, as no homes are within a 10-minute walk of public transport or a 15-minute walk of groceries. However, almost every home is within a 15-minute walk of a park.
