English is the main language used at home for 81.6% of people. While 4.8% use another language at home, which is higher than in most similar areas, no one in the community speaks little or no English.

Nearly half of the population (49.6%) report having no religion, which is far above the national figure of 38.9%. Christianity is the next most common affiliation at 28.8%.

About 17.1% of adults hold a bachelor degree or higher, which is well below the national average. Year 12 completion is also far below the state and national figures, sitting at 45.9%.

The typical weekly household income is $949, which is far below the national figure of $1,746. Only 12.5% of households earn $3,000 or more per week, a rate lower than most similar areas.

Residents here are generally healthier than those in most other areas, with only 20.8% reporting a long-term health condition. No one in the community reported needing help with daily activities.

Volunteering is common here, with 22.5% of people volunteering, well above the state and national figures of 14.1%. There is also a high rate of former Defence Force members at 6.3%.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population is very small, and there are no residents identifying as First Nations in the primary count.

Employment is concentrated in accommodation and food services (45.2%) and real estate (16.7%). Only 44.1% of adults are working or looking for work, which is far below the state average.
