Long-term health conditions are much more common here than in most areas, affecting 34.2% of people. Consequently, the share of people needing help with daily activities is a little above the national average.

Volunteering is higher than most areas, with 20.6% of residents giving their time. There is also a notably high share of former Defence Force members compared to the rest of the country.

First Nations residents are typically much older than those in the rest of the state, with a typical age of 42. Year 12 completion for this group is among the lowest for similar areas.

Living alone is very common here, with 34.5% of people in single-person households. This is well above the national average and helps explain why the typical home holds only 2.0 people.

Home ownership is strong, with 46.1% of homes owned outright, far above the national figure. Most homes are separate houses, though they tend to be smaller than usual, with only 62% having three or more bedrooms.

Many residents do not own a car, with 10.7% of homes having no vehicle, which is well above the national average. Walking to work is also common, accounting for 13.5% of commutes.

The area has seen significant movement, with 44.5% of residents moving house in the last five years. Recent overseas arrivals make up 12.8% of the population.

Many more residents are retired or not working compared to other areas, with only 47.7% of adults working or looking for work. Those employed are most often found in accommodation and food services.

The area is very walkable, with 84.3% of homes within a 15-minute walk of health services, far above the state average. Most residents can also easily reach parks and groceries on foot.
