The community is exceptionally young, with a typical age of 28 and very few children under 15 (10.1%) or seniors (11.2%) compared to the rest of the state. About 59.5% of residents have never been married, and the population is larger than about 75% of similar areas.

Overseas birth rates are much higher than most areas at 21.8%, though this is about the same as the Queensland average. The most common ancestries are English (35.3%) and Australian (35.0%).

Language diversity is high, with 15.5% of people using a language other than English at home, which is a little above the state figure. However, very few residents speak little or no English (0.8%).

Educational attainment is very high, with 72.6% having completed Year 12, far above the national figure of 58.8%. This is reflected in a high proportion of adults with a bachelor degree or higher (24.0%) and a large number of schools within the area.

While typical family incomes are a little above the state average, typical personal weekly income is $589, which is well below the national figure of $805. This gap is consistent with the very young age of the population.

Mental health conditions are more common here than in most areas (11.3%), which is a little above the national rate. Conversely, the proportion of people needing help with daily activities is lower than most areas at 2.9%.

Unpaid care for children and housework is much lower than most areas, likely due to the lack of young children. However, volunteering is common, with 19.9% of people volunteering, which is well above the national figure.

First Nations residents are noticeably younger than those in the rest of the state, with a typical age of 20. While unemployment is far above the national rate at 25.0%, Year 12 completion is among the highest at this level (71.0%).

Single living is very common, with 32.1% of people living alone, which is well above the national figure. This contributes to a lower number of people per home (2.3) than in most areas.

Renting is much more common here than in most similar areas (32.4%), and typical weekly rents are well below the national figure at $300. Separate houses make up 73.5% of dwellings, though the area has more apartments than many other similar spots.

Public transport use is among the highest at this level, with 7.5% commuting via transit, far above the national average. The area is very well served, with a high number of public transport stops and departures.

The population is highly mobile, with 51.6% of residents having moved in the last five years, far above the national rate. This is driven by a very high number of recent overseas arrivals (26.2%).

Full-time employment is far below the national average at 46.5%, and the unemployment rate is well above the national figure at 9.7%. Many residents work in education, health, or hospitality.

The area is very walkable for health services and parks, and 86.7% of homes are within a 10-minute walk of public transport. However, it is far below the national average for walking access to groceries and schools.
