Health needs are very high here, as 49.9% of people have a long-term health condition. This is far above the national average of 27.7%, and 10.2% of residents need help with daily activities.

The area has a strong history of service, with 7.7% of people having served in the Defence Force, well above the national figure of 2.8%. However, volunteering is much lower than most areas at 10.6%.

First Nations people make up 3.4% of the population. The typical age for this group is 30, which is noticeably older than the national figure of 24.

The community is largely made up of people living alone (43.0%) or couples without children (52.5%). Because of this, the average household size is just 1.9 people, well below the national average of 2.5.

Only 33.2% of adults are working or looking for work, which is far below the national figure of 61.1%. Full-time employment is common among those who do work, at 60.5%.
