Most residents were born in Australia, and those with overseas ancestry most commonly identify as English or Australian. About 12.6% of the population was born overseas, which is far below the national figure of 27.7%.

While 82.4% of people speak only English at home, 10.5% use another language, which is much higher than in most similar areas. A small number of residents speak little or no English, a figure slightly above the Queensland average.

Religious affiliation is split, with 46% of people identifying as Christian and 41.6% reporting no religion. This lack of religious affiliation is slightly above the national figure.

Educational qualifications are lower than in most areas, with only 9% of adults holding a bachelor degree or higher. This is far below the national figure of 26.3%, and Year 12 completion is also far below the state average.

Typical incomes are well below the state and national figures, with the usual household earning $1,320 a week. Only 11% of households earn $3,000 or more weekly, which is much lower than in most similar areas.

Residents experience more health challenges than most, with 31.6% having a long-term health condition. This is well above the national figure, and the rate of mental health conditions is also much higher than in most areas.

Participation in volunteering is much lower than in most areas at 11.1%. However, 12.4% of people provide unpaid care, which is about the same as the national average.

There are 486 First Nations people in the area, and they are younger than the national average with a typical age of 22. Unemployment among this group is 14.8%, which is a little above the national figure.

One-parent families are much more common here than in most areas, making up 21.9% of households. People living alone are also more common than the state average, at 28%.

Separate houses make up 87.4% of the dwellings, a figure far above the national average. Renting is much more common here than in most areas, and typical weekly rent of $260 is well below the national figure.

The area is heavily reliant on cars, with only 3.1% of people working from home, far below the national figure of 21%. There are no public transport stops or routes available in the area.

Movement into the area is high, with 37.3% of people having moved house in the last five years. The number of recent arrivals from overseas is among the highest for its level, far above the national average.

Full-time employment is a little above the national average at 61.6%, though the unemployment rate of 6.7% is much higher than in most similar areas. Many residents work as labourers or in health care and social assistance.
