A high number of people serve in the Defence Force here compared to most areas. Participation in unpaid childcare is also a little above the national average at 28.2%.

First Nations residents are noticeably younger than the national average, with a typical age of 20. This group also has a much higher rate of traditional language use, at 15.1%, compared to the national figure.

Homes here are larger than usual, with an average of 2.7 people per household. One-parent families are much more common here than in most other areas, making up 17.5% of households.

The area is dominated by separate houses, which make up 95.2% of all dwellings. Large homes are the norm, with 85.5% of houses having three or more bedrooms, a figure far above the national average.

Car use is essential, as only 0.7% of people commute by public transport and working from home is far less common than across Australia. Most homes have at least one vehicle, with 41.7% owning two.
