More people here need help with daily activities than in most areas, at 7.1%. Long-term health conditions are a little below the national average, with asthma being the most common report.

Unpaid care for children is slightly more common than the national average, while volunteering is well below the national figure at 8.8%.

First Nations residents are noticeably younger, with a typical age of 18. The unemployment rate for this group is far above the national figure at 27.1%, though Year 12 completion is well above the national average.

Homes are larger than usual, with 2.9 people per home. This is partly because one-parent families are far more common than the national figure, making up 30.6% of households.

Renting is very common at 67.3%, far above the national figure, while outright home ownership is among the lowest at 10.9%. Most homes are large, with 94.8% having three or more bedrooms.

Public transport use is much higher than in most areas, supported by a high number of bus stops. Only 8.8% of people work from home, far below the national figure.

The area is highly mobile, with 47.5% of people moving in the last five years. Recent overseas arrivals make up 15.0% of the population, which is a little above the national figure.

Unemployment is among the highest at this level at 10.1%, well above the national figure of 5.1%. Many residents work in health care, manufacturing, or retail.

Most homes are within a short walk of public transport and parks, but far fewer are within walking distance of health services and groceries compared to the national average.
