The area is far older than most, with the typical resident aged 49 and over a quarter of the population aged 65 or more. It also has a higher proportion of people in de facto relationships than most areas, while children under 15 are well below the national figure of 18.2%.

English, Australian, and Irish ancestries are the most common, and 21.7% of residents were born overseas, which is much higher than in most similar areas.

Typical weekly household income is $1,197, which is well below the national figure of $1,746. Personal incomes are also lower than most areas, with 45.7% of people earning under $650 a week.

Health challenges are more common here than in most areas, with 35.6% of people reporting a long-term health condition and 11.5% having a mental health condition.

Unpaid housework is very common, with 29.5% of people doing 15 or more hours a week. The area also has a higher rate of volunteers and former Defence Force members than most similar places.

First Nations residents are much younger than the wider community, with a typical age of 16. A high 13.5% speak a First Nations language, well above the state figure of 4.0%.

Living arrangements are distinct, as 39.1% of people live alone, which is far above the national figure of 25.6%. Consequently, the typical home is small, with only 2.1 people per dwelling.

Detached houses dominate the landscape at 99.5%, and 46.5% of homes are owned outright, far above the state average. Weekly rent is $380, which is about the same as the national figure.

Many residents work from home, accounting for 32.8% of the workforce. While the area has a very high number of public transport stops, the drive time to the city is 91 minutes.

The population is quite mobile, with 38.9% of people moving in the last five years. However, recent arrivals from overseas are lower than in most areas.

Fewer adults are working or looking for work here than in most areas, and the unemployment rate of 5.6% is slightly higher than the national figure of 5.1%.

The area is somewhat walkable, with 90.9% of homes within a 10-minute walk of public transport. However, no homes are within a 15-minute walk of health services.
