The area is predominantly Australian-born, and those with overseas ancestry are most likely to have English, Scottish or Irish roots. Only 17.1% of residents were born overseas, which is far below the national figure of 27.7%.

Health challenges are more common here, with 38.7% of people living with a long-term condition. This is far above the national figure, and 8% of residents need help with daily activities.

Volunteerism is very strong, with 23.5% of people volunteering, well above the national average. There is also a high number of people providing unpaid care and a higher-than-average number of former Defence Force members.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people make up 1.7% of the population. While their typical personal income of $509 is about the same as the state figure, 7.3% of this community speaks a First Nations language.

Homes tend to be smaller, with 2.2 people per household. A high number of people live alone (30.6%), and couples without children make up the largest family group at 44%.

Housing is dominated by separate houses, which make up 91.8% of dwellings. Home ownership is very high, with 46.4% of homes owned outright, far above the national figure.

The area is heavily reliant on cars, as only 0.6% of people commute by public transport. Most homes have at least one vehicle, and 12.3% of the workforce works from home.

The population has continued to grow since the last census, increasing by 6.7%, which is slightly above the state average.

The region is cooler and wetter than the state average, with an average maximum temperature of 20.0 degrees and annual rainfall of 572mm.

The area is mostly car-dependent, with a walkability score of 3.0. Many residents live far from essential services, with only 31.8% within a 15-minute walk of groceries.
