The population is noticeably older than the Australian average, with a typical age of 43. While children under 15 make up 19% of the community, there has been a rise in seniors, who now account for 18.1% of residents.

Most residents were born in Australia, and the area has a far lower proportion of overseas-born people (11.1%) compared to the national figure of 27.7%. English and Australian ancestries are the most common.

English is the primary language for 94.1% of the community. This is far below the national average for people using another language at home, and very few residents speak little or no English.

More than half of the community (50.6%) report having no religion, a figure that is far above the national average and has risen by 23 points since 2011.

Residents are well qualified, with 26.8% holding a bachelor degree or higher. This is well above the state average, and 56.9% of adults have completed Year 12.

Incomes are very high here, with typical weekly household earnings of $2,191, which is far above the Tasmanian figure. Nearly 30% of households earn $3,000 or more per week.

The community is healthier than most similar areas, with a much lower percentage of people needing help with daily activities (3.9%) compared to the national average.

Residents are highly active in their community, with 19.5% volunteering, which is well above the national figure. There is also a high rate of unpaid childcare (33.9%) and a strong presence of former Defence Force members.

First Nations residents in Cambridge are noticeably older than those in the rest of the state and earn well above the national figure, with a lower unemployment rate of 5.8%.

Families tend to be larger here, with 2.8 people per home. This is higher than the national figure, and only 17.4% of people live alone.

The area is dominated by detached houses, which make up 96.3% of dwellings. Homes are typically large, with 88.8% having three or more bedrooms, and renting is very uncommon at just 7.6%.

Most people rely on cars, and 41.8% of homes have two vehicles. While there are many public transport stops, only 1.7% of people use them to commute.

The community is relatively stable, as fewer people moved house in the last five years compared to most other areas. Recent overseas arrivals have also fallen since 2011.

The local workforce is active, with a much higher proportion of adults working or looking for work than the national average. Many are employed as professionals or managers.

Cambridge is a highly advantaged area, ranking in the top 10% for access to money and resources and the top 20% for overall advantage.

The area experiences much lower annual rainfall (542mm) than the Tasmanian average and has higher minimum temperatures.

The neighbourhood is mostly car-dependent, with a low walkability score. While many homes are near parks and transport, very few are within a 15-minute walk of groceries or health services.
