The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population is 8.0%, which is well above the national figure of 3.2%. While the typical resident is 40, about 18.9% of the community are seniors aged 65 and over. De facto relationships are much more common here than in most other areas, making up 17.4% of the population.

Most residents were born in Australia (76.2%), but the proportion of people born overseas has risen to 11.8% since 2011. English and Australian are the most common ancestries, followed by Irish and Scottish.

Mental health conditions are much less common here than in most areas, affecting only 6.6% of residents. Long-term health conditions are also less frequent than in the rest of Tasmania, with 26.7% of people reporting one.

Unpaid housework is more common here than in most areas, with 25.2% of people doing 15 or more hours a week. Additionally, 4.5% of residents have served in the Defence Force, which is higher than the national figure.

This area has one of the lowest densities of people per home at 2.0. This is consistent with the fact that 39.0% of people live alone, a figure far above the national average of 25.6%.

Detached houses are very common, making up 95.2% of all homes. Rent is much lower than the national figure, with a typical weekly rent of $195, and typical monthly mortgage payments are also low at $1,083.

Cars are the primary way to get to work, as 0.0% of people use public transport for their commute. However, 71.7% of homes are within a 10-minute walk of a transport stop.

The area has seen a huge surge in recent overseas arrivals, which rose from 0.0% in 2011 to 26.8% in 2021. This is far above the national figure of 14.5%.

A higher number of adults are working or looking for work (64.2%) compared to the rest of the state. Many locals work in accommodation and food services (20.2%) or agriculture, forestry and fishing (14.6%).
