The community is slightly younger than the Tasmanian average, though 19.5% are now seniors, a figure that rose 5.5 points since 2011. De facto relationships are much more common here than in most other similar areas, at 14.8%.

Born-overseas residents make up 7.9% of the population, which is far below the national figure of 27.7%. English and Australian are the most common ancestries, accounting for 48.9% and 45.4% respectively.

English is the primary language for 95.3% of the community. Very few people use another language at home (2.3%), a figure that is far below the Australian average of 22.3%.

Nearly half of the population (49.7%) report having no religion, which is far above the national figure of 38.9%. This is a significant increase from 2011, when only 24.9% identified this way.

Education levels are lower than in most areas, with only 12.7% of adults holding a bachelor degree or higher. However, the proportion of people who completed Year 12 rose 11 points since 2011 to reach 38.5%.

Typical weekly household income is $1,504, which is a little above the state figure. The number of households earning $3,000 or more per week rose 9.2 points since 2011 to reach 12.8%.

Long-term health conditions are more common here than in most areas, affecting 33.2% of people. Arthritis and mental health are the most reported conditions, at 12.1% and 10.1% respectively.

Unpaid care for children is much more common here than in most areas, at 29.5%. Conversely, volunteering is lower than the state average, with 13.7% of people volunteering compared to 18.0% across Tasmania.

Homes are slightly more crowded than the state average, with 2.5 people per home. Couples with children make up the majority of households at 54.8%.

Detached houses are very common, making up 89.2% of all homes. Renting is far less common here than in the rest of the country, with only 16.2% of households renting.

The area is heavily dependent on cars, with 74% of people driving to work and only 0.8% using public transport. Very few homes are without a vehicle, at just 2.0%.

About 35.3% of residents moved in the last five years. Recent arrivals from overseas make up 7.4% of the population, which is far below the Tasmanian average of 17.7%.

Job prospects are strong, with a 3.4% unemployment rate and a high proportion of adults working or looking for work (63.7%). Health care, construction, and retail are the top industries.

The area ranks in the middle for access to money and resources, but it scores much lower than most areas for education and job skills.

While many homes are within a 15-minute walk of a park or public transport, the area is mostly car-dependent. Notably, no homes are within a 15-minute walk of health services.
