The area is far older than the national figure, with 28.6% of residents aged 65 or over. While the population has grown quickly since 2011, it remains very small and has a very low proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Most residents were born in Australia, and those with overseas roots most commonly cite English, Irish or Scottish ancestry. This contributes to a much lower proportion of overseas-born residents compared to the rest of the state.

This is a highly active community where 25% of people volunteer, far above the national figure. There is also a much higher rate of people doing significant unpaid housework compared to the state average.

Living arrangements are unique, with 40.1% of people living alone, far above the national figure. This helps explain why the typical home has only 2.1 people, much lower than most other areas.

Housing is dominated by detached homes, and 56.9% of people own their home outright, which is far above the state average. Renting is much less common here than across Australia.

The area is heavily reliant on cars, with 64.1% of workers driving to work and no one using public transport for their commute. However, 21.8% of the workforce now works from home.

About a third of the population moved here in the last five years, but there have been no recent arrivals from overseas since 2016.

Agriculture, forestry and fishing are the main industries, with 19.9% of workers in this sector. Unemployment is 3.7%, which is a little lower than the national rate.

The area is overall very advantaged, ranking higher than 80% of all areas. It is particularly noted for having very low levels of disadvantage.
