The area is far older than most of Australia, with 26.9% of people aged 65 and over, a figure that rose 9.2 points since 2011. There is also a higher proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (4.4%) than in most other areas.

Volunteering is high at 20.0%, which is well above the national average. Many residents also provide unpaid care (14.3%) or perform significant amounts of unpaid housework.

Homes are generally smaller, with only 2.2 people per home. There is a high proportion of people living alone (32.6%) and one-parent families (19.2%), both of which are well above the state figures.

Detached houses are very common, making up 94.5% of all dwellings. Home ownership is also very strong, with 48.9% of homes owned outright, far above the national figure of 31.0%.

The area is heavily reliant on cars, as only 0.1% of people commute by public transport. Despite this, there are more public transport stops per 1,000 people than in most other areas.
