Swan Reach and Mount Pleasant are two different kinds of small South Australian towns. Swan Reach is much older, with a typical resident aged 61 and 42% of people aged 65 or over. It is also a place of single-person households, with 53.3% of people living alone. In contrast, Mount Pleasant is more family-oriented, with far more children under 15 (18.8%) and a much higher share of people caring for children unpaid (25.8%).
