Inala South Brisbane
Inala and South Brisbane are two distinct parts of Brisbane with very different housing and social profiles. Inala is a family-oriented area with a high proportion of separate houses (78.7%) and many children under 15 (20.5%). In contrast, South Brisbane is a high-density hub where flats or apartments dominate (74.1%) and a huge share of adults hold a bachelor degree or higher (47.0%). South Brisbane also has a much higher proportion of people with no religion (51.2%) compared to Inala (28.9%).
Both areas have a similar number of public transport stops per 1,000 people. However, their overall characters have drifted further apart since 2011. The gap in university qualifications has widened significantly, and the difference in housing types has grown as South Brisbane became more apartment-heavy. South Brisbane is a walker's paradise, while Inala is only somewhat walkable, reflecting the contrast between a high-density city edge and a sprawling residential suburb.
