Tiwi Islands vs Van Diemen Gulf

Tiwi Islands and Van Diemen Gulf are both sparsely populated areas in the Northern Territory. Tiwi Islands has a small population of 194 people, while Van Diemen Gulf is largely non-residential with no residents. Tiwi Islands is far more developed in terms of basic services, with five schools within 3 km compared to none in Van Diemen Gulf. It also has a much larger population of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with 141 residents.

Both areas lack any public transport routes or stops, reflecting the remote nature of life in this part of the country. While Tiwi Islands has a far larger number of schools and residents, the gap in street connectivity remains minimal as neither area has a developed grid of intersections.
