These two areas differ sharply in their layouts and people. 1 million or more is very walkable, with 88.8% of homes within a 10-minute walk of public transport, while 10,000 to 19,999 is mostly car-dependent, with only 25.8% of homes near transport. 1 million or more also has a much more diverse and highly qualified population; 28.3% of residents were born overseas and 28.3% of adults hold a bachelor degree or higher, compared to 13.3% and 14.0% respectively in 10,000 to 19,999.
