Nelson and Arnhem are two very different parts of the Northern Territory, separated by about 401 km. Nelson is a wealthier area where typical weekly personal income is $1,185, compared to just $316 in Arnhem. It also has a much higher share of homeowners, with 27.1% owning their home outright, while only 4.1% do so in Arnhem. In contrast, Arnhem has a far larger Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population at 68.9%, compared to 17.6% in Nelson, and many more residents use a language other than English at home (67.6% versus 6.5%).
