Liverpool Penrith
Liverpool and Penrith are both large centres in Greater Sydney, but they differ greatly in their cultural and social makeup. Liverpool is far more diverse, with 43.2% of people born overseas and 53.8% using a language other than English at home. In contrast, Penrith has a smaller overseas-born population at 23.3% and far fewer people using another language at home (19.6%). Penrith also has a much larger First Nations community, with 10,925 people compared to 3,838 in Liverpool, and a higher share of residents who identify as having no religion (29.3% versus 13.8%).
This gap in religious identity has widened since 2011. Despite these diverging trends, the two areas remain very similar in other ways. They share a similar proportion of children under 15, and typical weekly rents are the same at $400. Both areas also have a nearly identical drive time to the city, taking about 37 to 38 minutes.
