More than one in five people in Yea volunteer their time, a rate well above the national figure. While unpaid work is common, the level of volunteering has dropped by 11 percentage points since 2011. This local commitment to helping out remains much higher than in most other similar areas.

About 20.6% of residents volunteer, which is well above the 13.3% seen in Victoria and the 14.1% across Australia. However, this is a decrease from 2011, when 31.7% of the community volunteered.
