Singleton Millfield

Singleton and Millfield (L) are two different types of residential areas in New South Wales. Singleton is more urban and walkable, with 39.7% of homes within a 15-minute walk of groceries, while Millfield (L) is mostly car-dependent and has no homes with walkable groceries. Singleton also has a far higher share of renters at 31.1%, compared to just 9.3% in Millfield (L). In contrast, Millfield (L) is made up entirely of separate houses, whereas Singleton has more variety with 83.0% separate houses.

Since 2011, the gaps between the two have shifted in various ways. While the difference in renting has widened, the gap in Year 12 completion has narrowed. The two areas remain very similar in some ways, such as having a similar share of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (around 9%) and almost identical typical weekly rents of $320.
