Cabonne Cowra
Cabonne and Cowra are two regional areas in New South Wales with similar populations, but they differ sharply in wealth and safety. Cabonne is significantly more affluent, with 19.6% of households earning over $3,000 a week compared to just 9.0% in Cowra. This gap in resources is mirrored in crime rates; recorded offences are far higher in Cowra, including a much higher rate of theft and property damage. Cowra also has more urban convenience, with far more public transport stops and a higher share of homes within a 10-minute walk of transport.
The gap in high household incomes has widened since 2011, but other parts of life in these two areas remain very similar. Both have nearly identical shares of people who serve in the Defence Force and an almost equal number of school enrolments. They also share similar weather patterns and a nearly identical percentage of residents who do not have a religion. While Cowra's residents are noticeably older, both areas sit well above the national figure for typical age.
