Howard Springs - Gunn Point vs Tiwi Islands - Wilderness

Tiwi Islands - Wilderness and Howard Springs - Gunn Point are two very different Northern Territory landscapes. Tiwi Islands - Wilderness is a remote area where 78% of people speak a First Nations language, while far fewer do so in Howard Springs - Gunn Point (1.9%). First Nations residents in Tiwi Islands - Wilderness are far younger, with a typical age of 16, and face higher unemployment at 21.2%. In contrast, Howard Springs - Gunn Point has a much higher typical First Nations income of $3,117 per household and a much lower unemployment rate of 5.3%.

Both areas have a higher share of First Nations people than the national figure.
