Over one in five people in the Remainder of State/Territory (Vic.) volunteer, a figure well above the national average. This reflects a strong culture of community contribution across these vast regional areas. While unpaid care roles are common, the level of volunteering is the most standout feature of local participation.

A striking 20.5% of residents volunteer, which is much higher than most areas. This is well above the 13.3% seen across Victoria and the 14.1% national figure.
Unpaid care & work
Caring for others and unpaid domestic work.
Unpaid work is common here, with 27% of people doing 15 or more hours of housework weekly, well above the national figure of 20.7%. This sits alongside a slightly higher rate of general unpaid care compared to the rest of the state.
