About 18.8% of people here volunteer, which is much higher than most areas and well above the Australian figure of 14.1%. This is roughly the same as the Tasmania average, though it has fallen by 2.4 percentage points since 2011.

Unpaid care & work

Caring for others and unpaid domestic work.

Unpaid work is common here, as 25.6% of people spend 15 or more hours a week on housework—well above the national figure of 20.7%. While 13.4% of residents provide some form of unpaid care, the proportion of those caring for children unpaid is 22.8%, which is much lower than most other areas.

A higher number of people here have served in the Defence Force compared to most areas. At 4.4%, this is a little above the Australian figure of 2.8% and about the same as the state average.
