Central Coast Mudgee
Central Coast and Mudgee are two very different New South Wales regions. Central Coast is a large area where residents are noticeably older, with a typical age of 43 and 22.2% aged 65 and over. It is far more likely for people there to work from home (25.4%) and for homes to be within a 15-minute walk of health services (38.9%). In contrast, Mudgee is a smaller area with a younger typical age of 37 and a higher share of children under 15 (21.3%). Mudgee also has a higher proportion of people earning $2,000 or more a week (14.1%) and more people working full-time (61%).
Many trends have shifted since 2011, as the gap in typical age has narrowed and the lead in home ownership and working-from-home rates has flipped. Despite these shifts, the two areas remain similar in some ways, such as having the same typical number of people per home (2.5) and almost identical rates of people who served in the Defence Force (2.8%). Both areas also see around 62% of homes within a 15-minute walk of a school.
