Coomera Oodgeroo
Coomera and Oodgeroo are two different types of residential hubs. Coomera is a young, growing area where the typical resident is 31 and 25.6% of people are children under 15. It is a place of new arrivals, with 59.6% of residents moving in during the last five years, and many live in rented, four-bedroom detached houses. Oodgeroo is much older, with a typical resident aged 47 and 24.4% of the population aged 65 or over. It is a more established area where 38% of homes are owned outright and residents have much better access to local shops and health services on foot.
Both areas share a similar mix of residents born overseas, at around 26% to 27%. This commonality sits alongside a widening gap in age and housing, as Oodgeroo has become far older than Coomera since 2011. While the two areas have similar typical weekly incomes, Coomera now has far more people working or looking for work. The difference in housing has also grown, with renting far more common in Coomera while home ownership is much higher in Oodgeroo.
