Chatsworth Greenslopes
Greenslopes and Chatsworth are neighbouring areas in Brisbane with very different housing and street layouts. Greenslopes is a walker's paradise with a high density of apartments and renters, where 41.7% of homes are rented. It also has far more schools per 1,000 children (2.21) than Chatsworth (0.77). In contrast, Chatsworth is dominated by detached houses, with 78.2% of homes being separate houses and 88.3% of dwellings having three or more bedrooms. While Chatsworth is very walkable, Greenslopes has a much higher share of homes within a short walk of health services, groceries, and schools.
Everyday life is similar in both places when it comes to typical weekly family incomes, the share of people working from home, and the number of public transport stops per 1,000 people. However, some gaps are shifting. The difference in the share of people living alone has flipped since 2011, and the gap in renters has widened significantly. Greenslopes has also become more distinct from Chatsworth in terms of education, with a widening lead in the share of adults holding a bachelor degree or higher.
