Albury Murray
Murray and Albury are two large New South Wales areas with similar populations, but they differ in their layout and makeup. Albury is more connected, with far more public transport departures and a higher share of homes within a 15-minute walk of parks, shops, and health services. Murray has a much higher proportion of recent arrivals from overseas (26.2%) and more people using a language other than English at home. In contrast, Albury has a higher share of adults with a bachelor degree or higher (16.6%) and more people who report having no religion.
Everyday life in both places is very similar in other ways. They share the same typical age of 42 and nearly identical typical weekly household incomes of around $1,400. Both areas also have the same share of children under 15. While Albury remains more walkable, the gap in home ownership has narrowed since 2011, with Murray now slightly more likely to have homes owned outright.
