It is also a hub for higher education and income, with 38.2% of adults holding a bachelor degree or higher and a typical weekly household income of $2,022. These two areas have drifted further apart since 2011. The gaps in typical age, income, and university qualifications have all widened over the last decade, as has the difference in how many people own their homes outright. Despite these diverging trends, the two areas remain similar in some basic ways; for example, about 11% of people in both regions live in a de facto relationship, and roughly the same share of adults in both areas volunteer.
