Bonython Greenway
Greenway and Bonython are neighbouring areas in the Australian Capital Territory with very different lifestyles. Greenway is a high-density hub where 63.2% of homes are flats or apartments, and 43.4% of people live alone. It is a walker's paradise with a walkability score of 8.4 and far more public transport departures. Bonython is much more suburban; 59.3% of residents live in separate houses, and 88.9% of homes have three or more bedrooms. Bonython also has a larger share of families with children (19.1% under 15) and a higher proportion of households earning $3,000 or more a week (31.0%).
Since 2011, the two areas have grown apart in several ways, with the gaps widening for home types, the share of high earners, and the number of people moving into the area. Despite these diverging trends, they remain alike in many ways. Both have almost identical proportions of First Nations people and residents who speak little or no English. They also share very similar typical weekly rents and the same amount of time to drive to the city.
