Lajamanu vs Walangeri Outstations

Lajamanu and Walangeri Outstations are two remote Northern Territory areas with very different layouts and incomes. Lajamanu is much more populated, with 605 First Nations people compared to just 32 in Walangeri Outstations. It is also more walkable, with a score of 3.2 (mostly car-dependent) and all homes within a 15-minute walk of schools, health services, and groceries. In contrast, Walangeri Outstations is car-dependent, with no homes within walking distance of these services. However, Walangeri Outstations sees far higher First Nations household incomes at $1,499, compared to $714 in Lajamanu.

Both areas share a very young First Nations population, with a typical age of 20. This similarity exists alongside a total lack of public transport or parks within a short walk for residents in either place. While Lajamanu has a far higher share of people who speak a First Nations language (98.3% compared to 81.3%), the two areas are effectively alike in their flat terrain.
