Tamworth vs Uralla - Walcha

Tamworth and Uralla - Walcha are two large regional areas in New South Wales. Tamworth is much more accessible on foot, with 70.1% of homes within a 10 minute walk of public transport and 76.4% within 15 minutes of a park. In contrast, Uralla - Walcha is mostly car-dependent, with only 28.6% of homes near public transport and 50.2% near a park. Tamworth also has a far larger First Nations population, with 8,021 people compared to 733 in Uralla - Walcha.

While the two areas share similar rates of First Nations people finishing Year 12, the gap in First Nations unemployment is wide. This rate is 11.2% in Tamworth, which is a little below the national figure, but much higher at 17.9% in Uralla - Walcha. This difference in employment is consistent with First Nations household income being a little higher in Tamworth.
