Casey Chisholm
Chisholm and Casey are two different types of residential hubs in Victoria. Chisholm is a very walkable area where nearly half the population (49.7%) was born overseas and 50.1% use a language other than English at home. It is also more highly qualified, with 42.1% of adults holding a bachelor degree or higher. In contrast, Casey is more car-dependent, with a much higher share of separate houses (93.8%) and a typical commute to the city that takes 67 minutes, compared to just 20 minutes for Chisholm.
Since 2011, the two areas have drifted further apart in several ways. The gap in overseas births and language diversity has widened as Chisholm became far more diverse, while the difference in education and Year 12 completion has also grown. Despite these shifting trends, the two areas remain very similar in other ways. They share almost identical typical weekly household incomes, and both have a similar proportion of people working full-time.
