Lindsay Werriwa
Werriwa and Lindsay are both large, populated areas in Greater Sydney, but they have very different social makeups. Werriwa is much more multicultural, with 44.3% of people born overseas and 56.0% using a language other than English at home. In contrast, Lindsay has a higher share of people with no religion (30.2% compared to 13.3% in Werriwa) and a larger Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population at 5.3%. There are also differences in local access; Lindsay is more walkable, with 57.4% of homes within a 15-minute walk of health services, while only 30.6% of Werriwa homes have that same access.
Since 2011, the two areas have drifted further apart in several ways, particularly as the gap in overseas births and home languages has widened. However, they remain very similar in other aspects of daily life, such as typical weekly household incomes, which are nearly identical at around $1,870. They also share similar housing patterns, with about 24% of homes in both areas being owned outright.
