How people contribute — volunteering, unpaid care and domestic work, and defence service.
A massive gap in military service defines Forest Hill, where veterans are far more common than in the rest of the state. While unpaid childcare is on the rise, traditional volunteering and general unpaid care have both seen a significant decline.

Only 10.3% of people here volunteer, which is much lower than most areas and well below the national figure of 14.1%. This is a sharp drop from 2011, when 17.7% of residents volunteered.
