A rapid shift in diversity has seen the share of people using a language other than English in Googong jump from 2.8% to 18.1% since 2011. While this is one of the highest proportions among similar areas, it remains well below the national figure of 22.3%. Most residents speak only English, though a growing range of languages is now heard across the community.
