More than double the proportion of people in 100,000 to 249,999 now speak a language other than English at home compared to 2011. This shift brings the figure to 15.1%, which is much higher than most similar areas.

While 80.3% of residents speak only English, the number of people using another language rose 7.7 percentage points since 2011. Mandarin is the most common second language at 3.1%, and the 1.5% who speak little or no English is higher than in most similar areas.
